Palmwag Lodge

Palmwag Lodge is a paradise on the Uniab River in northwest Damaraland – a vacation opportunity with a difference.

Waving palms whispering in the wind, spectacular surroundings which harbor the famous desert elephant, the rare black rhino, giraffe, zebra, gemsbok and many other wild animal species, sunsets to dream of – this is Palmwag Lodge, one of Namibia’s oldest and most popular tourist rendezvous.

The lodge offers 24 beds in 2-3-bed thatched bungalows, a fully licensed a la carte restaurant, swimming pools under shady palms, and a very cozy “pool bar”.
The well-situated hiking trails let you enjoy and discover the neighbouring nature. With early booking, we offer guided full day excursions through the breathtaking landscapes of the Damaraland and the Kaokofeld including the visit of Namibia’s last nomads – the Ovahimbas.

The Lodge is accessible via a gravel road D2620, over Kamanjab and Khorixas; or from Swakopmund by gravel road C35, D2301 + D3254 via Uis.

Palmwag Lodge is an ideal place to travel on to the Kaokofeld, Etosha, Epupa Falls, etc. Due to limited accommodation available, early bookings are essential and we kindly request you to adhere to our booking policy and conditions. To cater for the needs of campers and day visitors, the thatched pool bar under the palm trees at the swimming pool, where light meals and most drinks are available, is opened daily from mid morning until app 22h00. Groups bigger than 8 persons, who intend lunching at our pool bar, can do this by prior arrangement.

Please take note that entry into the surrounding concession area is by valid permit only, which should be obtained at the Palmwag Lodge reception before entry into the area. (incl. the Hoanib River). The concession area boundaries are:
North: the northern Bank of the Hoanib River West: Skeleton Coast Park boundary East: road D3706 to Sesfontein South: road D3245 to Torra Bay
