What To Do at Brandberg Rest Camp
Brandberg Mountain
The Brandberg is the highest mountain in Namibia and is famous for the
White Lady and other Bushman paintings, as well as its diverse geology.
The mountain is very popular for hikers, offering 3 to 5 day hikes. Hiking
and other guides can be arranged on request. Guided tours in Toyota Landcruisers
are available in and around the area.
The Brandberg area is also known for its unspoilt beauty, desert elephants, herds of zebra, and springbok roaming free in the wild. You can also buy world-famous Brandberg crystals directly from small miners who make a living selling these crystals.
The main attraction is the White Lady, one of more than 45,000 rock paintings in the area. A 40-minute hike will take you to what is widely believed to be a Bushman painting that is at least 2,000 years old.
Tours Available at Brandberg Rest Camp

Spitzkoppe Excursion
Depart from the Brandberg Rest Camp after breakfast. We deviate from the
main road on an off-road excursion to visit the water pumping station in
the Omaruru River, providing drinking water for the village of Uis.
Astonishing views of Spitzkoppe will be seen. Along the route, you can
observe plants like the Elephant’s Foot (Adenia pechuelii),
Leadwood (Combretum imberbe), and various succulent species while
descending into the Omaruru River valley.
Geologically, Spitzkoppe consists of deep-seated igneous magma intrusive rocks aged about 126 million years, intruding into older Damara granites aged about 500 million years. The landscape, shaped by differential erosion, results in the rising inselbergs of Spitzkoppe granite.
