The Main Camp
The ‘Main Camp’ features eight campsites, complemented by
a dedicated swimming pool, restaurant, viewing deck, and bar.
Each campsite includes wash-up facilities, braai areas, running water,
a 12v light, and soft, level river sand for dust-free camping and easy
tent installation. Shaded by mature Acacia trees, the sites provide a
comfortable environment.
Communal Ablution Facilities
Our communal ablution facilities are designed with open skies and spacious,
individually decorated chambers. Hot water is supplied daily by wood boilers
at approximately five o’clock in the afternoon.
Exclusive Campsite
In addition to the main camp, we offer an exclusive campsite located
at the foot of the Naukluft Mountains. This campsite is approximately
6 km off the main road, nestled in an ancient river system. It features
two showers, two toilets, a braai area, and running water.
Previously used by CC Africa’s exclusive Anderson and Thirstland
expeditions, the site’s charm is enhanced by the surrounding mountains
and its remoteness.
Agama River Camp Amenities and Facilities
Many visitors use our facilities as an overnight access point to Sossusvlei and the Namib Naukluft hiking trails. We also offer self-guided walks into the mountains. Pre-arranged meals for groups, events, and individuals, as well as breakfast packs, are available.
Camping Equipment and Essentials
For those without camping equipment, we provide tents, bedding, crockery, and cutlery for an additional fee. Visitors are advised to bring their own firewood and ice, as these items are scarce in the desert. Power supply is limited to four hours per day via a diesel generator. Several 220v electrical outlets are available for charging batteries and appliances.

Origin of the Name 'Agama'
The name ‘Agama’ is inspired by the colourful family of lizards
commonly found in Africa’s drier and open savannah regions. The first
creature to greet us when we entered the old farm gate was an inquisitive
Agama lizard, making it a fitting namesake for the camp.
Location and Accessibility
Agama River Camp is situated on the C19, 30 km south of Solitaire and 50 km north of Sesriem, approximately forty-five minutes from the main gateway to Sossusvlei.
