farm with cattle and ostriches. Because of its central situation and

Ababis Guestfarm is a working farm that has some cattle and a few ostriches, as well as areas devoted purely to wildlife including gemsbok, springbok, blesbok, ostrich, occasional zebra, a few kudu, and some bat-eared foxes.
On the edge of the Naukluft, it is a good base for long hikes, while there's
also a gentle walking trail around the farm which takes a few hours, down
to a (usually) dry river.
Experience the red dunes of Sossusvlei, Sesriem and the magnificent Naukluft Mountains with marked hiking trails. Go on nature walks on our farm and visit the Fossil Dunes here.
If you're not driving yourself around, then there is a 4WD drive on to
the Naukluft Plateau, lasting about eight hours, a morning or afternoon
trip into Sossusvlei, or a half-day's drive encompassing local Bushman paintings,
a spring and a small 'kokerboom forest' in the hills.
An excursion to the neighbouring Sossusvlei/Sesriem Canyon is an absolute must. This day trip can be done independently or in the company of an experienced guide.
Another excursion worth undertaking is a guided off-road trip to the petrified dunes on the neighbouring farm, Dieprivier.
Hosts also offer a guided off-road excursion through the grammadulas of the fringe areas and the Gaub river to Corona Guest Farm, where lunch is offered, before the trip continues to the Gamsberg and back to Ababis via the Remhoogte Pass. Hosts also offer trips to neighbouring farms cooperating in the Naukluft Experience.
On the varied farm area, many possibilities are offered for walkers and mountain climbers on well-marked trails. Some hiking trails are marked as nature study paths, offering beautiful rest areas along the way.
Mountain bikers can enjoy special routes designed and tested by German mountain bikers. Road maps have been prepared for day trips, while longer trips can be taken from farm to farm.
The “Safety Driving & Off-road Academy” established at Ababis in November 2004 offers a complete training programme for off-road drivers. Following the training, hosts also offer guided off-road excursions.
Namibia’s spectacular landscapes take on a new meaning from a bird’s-eye view. You can book small planes for your round trip across the Naukluft massif.
Ababis stands on the west side of the C14, opposite the junction with D1261, on the north side of the Naukluft Mountains.
A road trip across Namibia is an experience you will cherish forever, the freedom to stop wherever you want and explore Namibia on your own terms, for that you will need to hire the right car.
