The lodge borders the Ai-Ais-Richtersveld Transfrontier Conservation Park, which features some of the most spectacular scenery of the arid and desert environments in southern Africa. The park is characterised by a unique and impressive variety of plant species.

What To Do at Orange River Lodge
Fishing
The Orange River offers excellent fishing opportunities year-round for both conventional bait and fly fishermen. Fifteen different species of fish are found in our area, with the main targeted species being:
- Carp
- Sharptooth Catfish (Barbel)
- Yellowfish
Canoeing
Orange River Lodge provides canoes for rent and can also arrange canoe trips lasting 2–5 days. This is the most adventurous way to explore the river and its spectacular surroundings.
Other Activities
For tourists with an interest in Namibian history, there are several sites of interest to visit. These include:
- Areas where historic battles took place during the Nama Rebellion of 1904–1908
- Graves of German Colonial Soldiers
- The ruins of buildings constructed by German colonialists at Uhabis
