The Kalahari Game Lodge arises over the last dunes towards the eastern border of Namibia, adjacent to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park; it lights up the early evening sky with the Boma fire already inviting the guests to its warmth.

This gem to be discovered has re-opened its doors on the 1st of June 2014 with a whole new freshly revamped look as well as brand-new additions!

The Lodge conforms aesthetically well to the surrounding landscape as if part of the Kalahari itself. Similarly, the furnishings, decor, and trimmings are indicative of a true Kalahari oasis.

As you enter the Lodge, you will melt into its relaxing atmosphere where you can enjoy ice cold refreshments on arrival and sit down to a delicious meal at the new Restaurant which caters to all the specific needs of the guests, surprising them with fresh ingredients and satisfying meals amidst the harsh and hot environment.

The Lodge

Arriving at the The Kalahari Game Lodge you can choose between camping or staying in one of eight beautiful chalets.

Chalets are equipped with a small kitchenette, as well as an en-suite bathroom. Each Chalet also has a lovely patio overlooking the Auob Riverbed, where you can enjoy your morning coffee as the sun rises over the Kalahari dunes.

Selected Chalets are equipped with a braai area outside that provides you with the options of enjoying your dinner under the stars or you could just sit around your own campfire relaxing in the cooler evening air.

The chalets are furnished with double or three-quarter twin beds, covered in crisp white linen bedding, rooms are open and spacious, providing you with the wonderful comforts of luxury living in this desolate and remote area. The design of the chalets and lodge allows for the natural circulation of air to maintain comfortable temperatures in the hot summers and creates an inviting atmosphere in the chalets.

The Restaurant at Kalahari Game Lodge offers sumptuous breakfasts that are included in the accommodation price. A full lunch menu is also on offer for day travellers and dinner can be booked either to be served at your chalet or at the restaurant. A vegetarian menu is available on request, ensuring we cater for everybody's needs.

Campsites

For the more adventurous and Overland travellers - Kalahari Game Lodge has four campsites available, each equipped with electric power outlets, water on tap and sufficient shade. The central ablution facility is clean and neat, and you can enjoy a lovely hot shower after a warm Kalahari summers day.

Each campsite can accommodate up to four people and arrangements can be made for larger groups travelling together. The development of more campsites is still in progress and will soon be complementing the existing camping area. These campsites will be more private and set further apart from each other.

Location

Kalahari Game Lodge is situated in Namibia in Northern side of the Kalahari, bordering on the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, west of Mata-Mata. It covers approximately 37 209ha and is situated between approximately 25° 40' 11" S latitude in the south, and 25° 24' 26" S latitude in the north, and 19 47' 28" E longitude in the west and 20 00' 00" longitude in the east.

Directions

The Kalahari Game Lodge, set on the picturesque C15 road in the Karas region, is a mere 18km from the Mata-Mata border post, in the Kalagadi Transfrontier Park. Therefore you will have to travel through the park to get there.

Alternatively Kalahari Game Lodge is also accessible from the southern side exiting South Africa at Vioolsdrif Border post and travelling through Namibia from there to the eastern side via Grunau, through Keetmanshoop and from there onto the C17 road to Koes . Follow the C17 to the C15 junction turning right to reach Kalahari Game Lodge.

Another route is from Upington in South Africa, entering Namibia at the Rietfontein border post and then heading towards Aroab, from there take the C11 road to Koes and again the C17 turning into the C15 and drive to Kalahari Game Lodge.

Driving down from Windhoek, the easiest route is to follow the B1 in a southern direction to Mariental, turn left onto the C20 towards Stampriet. From there take the C15 via Gochas to Kalahari Game Lodge. Please see Map section of this webpage for more details.
