Rustic & Stone cottages. Small fridge & kitchenette area, air conditioner, two ¾ beds, en-suite bathroom with bath, shower & toilet, game viewing possibility & barbeque facility.
Rustic family cottage. Small fridge & kitchenette area, air conditioner, two ¾ beds in front room and 4 single beds in back room, en-suite bathroom with bath, shower & toilet, game viewing possibility & barbeque facility.
Standard igloos. Small fridge & kitchenette area, air conditioner, two single beds and a pull-out bed for small children (except Balloo), en-suite bathroom with shower & toilet, barbeque facility.
Camping sites with electrical points, outside showers and a private washing up area.
Communal kitchen, showers and toilets available.
No tents, fridge, or other camping equipment available at Harnas Wood. This can be provided on request.
With a welcoming view and a refreshing bar, there is always good times to be had at the Harnas Lapa and Restaurant.
To get to Harnas from the Namibian capital of Windhoek, one should drive along the B6 Trans-Kalahari Highway that connects Namibia with South Africa via Botswana. Gobabis lies 202 km from Windhoek. Upon entering Gobabis on the road from Windhoek, turn left at the first 4-way stop.
Drive 8 km towards the Buitepos border post through Gobabis, using the opportunity to top up your car’s fuel, buy some biltong (a local pickled meat delicacy) and get some necessities like insect repellent and sunscreen lotion. Continue out of Gobabis towards the Botswana border. At a distance of 5.1 km from the last four-way intersection, the sign “Harnas Lion Farm” will be on your left. Take the first road immediately after this sign also to your left; this is the C22 and is 45 km of tarmac up to the small town of Drimiopsis.
From Drimiopsis until one reaches Harnas is a gravel road. This road is kept in good condition and one can easily drive it with a sedan, although during the rainy season it is advised to enquire about the road's condition. The following sign “Harnas Lion Farm” will be on the left at 45.6 km. Turn right immediately after this sign. Keep left at the Y junction at 53 km with the Harnas sign also on the left.
Due to the activities in the Lifeline area of Harnas, we have moved our entrance a further 4 km up. You will notice a painted shield of colourful wild animals that will show you that you should carry on driving to the next entrance. The entrance has our logo, a guard house and several international flags welcoming you. You will be received by our guard and guided to Harnas Lodge.
You will drive on a very straight and narrow road.
DO NOT STOP, FEED OR TOUCH ANY ANIMALS ALONG THE WAY OR TOUCH THE FENCE!
You will go through a second entrance and guard house, who will direct you down a windy path that will exit on the airstrip and then go down to the lodge. Please drive slowly.
Take the slight turn right and drive across a small wooden bridge and park under the canopy directly in front of you. After parking your car, walk over the large wooden bridge and continue to the lapa, the arched thatch-roofed building to your right.
Here you will be welcomed by our receptionist and can grab a refreshing drink before being shown to your chalet or campsite.
