Accommodation at Ntwala Island Lodge

Ntwala's beautiful rooms are well-suited to honeymooners who may just want to relax on a Namibian tropical island. Cruising peacefully by boat always seems a much more romantic adventure than bouncing along a dusty, bumpy road in a fully-loaded 4x4.

The lodge is surrounded by an intricate system of floating walkways that connect a collection of small Namibian islands within the Mambova rapids. Palm trees add to the romantic getaway feel of this island paradise, where the two mighty African rivers, the Zambezi and Chobe, converge.

Luxury Suites

Ntwala Island Lodge comprises ultra-luxury styled suites artfully appointed, each inclusive of a private plunge pool fringed by white sand and an opulent viewing deck. Each suite features a bay bath, indoor and outdoor shower, as well as a private sala extending enticingly out over the water.

The luxury suites emphasise the exclusivity and isolation of the island. Each room has its own en-suite bathroom, a well-stocked mini-bar, and tea/coffee making facilities. Guests can escape the afternoon heat in their personal plunge pool or simply relax in a bubble bath while enjoying the view.

Ntwala Island Lodge Activities and Things to Do

Water-based Activities

Ntwala Island Lodge is one of Africa's top bird-watching destinations, with specialties from the Okavango as well as unusual species like rock pratincoles found nearby. Each suite has its own personally assigned boat and guide, ensuring individual choice, flexibility, and solitude.

The motorboat trips along the Chobe and Zambezi rivers are excellent for birdlife, hippo, and crocodile spotting. Big game, including herds of elephants and massive congregations of buffalo, are often seen, especially during the dry season. Enjoy a quiet mokoro trip in the backwaters of the islands or partake in an exclusive Chobe sunset cruise while viewing Africa's big game or pursuing the famed tigerfish.

Game Viewing

Game cruises along the Chobe River offer possible sightings of elephant, hippo, buffalo, lion, rare puku, Chobe bushbuck, and many more.

Fishing

Fly fishing or conventional fishing can be done from either a mokoro in the rapids or a motorised boat on the Zambezi, Chobe, or Kasai Rivers for tigerfish, bream, and many other species.

Bird Watching

Spot some of Africa's rarest birds in the varied habitats of the islands and surrounding floodplains: rock pratincole, Pel's fishing owl, pygmy geese, and African skimmers.

Guided Walks

There are many unrestricted walks available, including an Afro-botanical tree walk where you learn about the traditional uses of plants and trees.

Cultural Activities

Visit a traditional fishing village and learn about the timeless ways of the local people.

Mokoro Trips

Mokoro trips are available for bird watching, fishing, or pure relaxation while exploring the nearby wild islands and waterways.
